Strategy for teaching songs

Hola amigos!
I really like teaching songs in my classes. One of my favorite strategies is to do a cloze activity with the lyrics of the song.
I start by introducing the artist, then giving students a copy of the song's lyrics with words missing in every line.
Students have to listen to the song and fill in the missing words which usually takes three to four listens.
To make sure every student has the correct lyrics I project a copy of the their lyric sheet onto the board with the video projector. Then students can come up and write the missing lyrics on the board in the blank spaces.
Then we sing the song and pay special attention to the chorus.
Disfrutalo!

Que locos!

Those kids were wild today! Was it something in the air or the water? It is frustrating to have a bad day right before going back to the University for classes. However, I learned a lot about what won't work in class today and I'll be more prepared for class next week.

Tongue Twisters

Hola amiguitos,
I really like using tongue twisters (trabalenguas) to practice pronunciation. My favorite trabalenguas helps students practice rolling their r's. Check it out:

RR con RR burrito (RR with RR little donkey)
RR con RR barril (RR with RR barrel)
Rápido corren los carros (The cars go fast)
En el ferrocarril. (On the railroad)

¡Inténtalo! (Try it!)

A new way to teach verb conjugations

Hola amigos,
At LHS my cooperating teacher is using a method called TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling). So far I have seen some amazing progress in the way students read and write in the target language. Yesterday we tried teaching verb conjugations using TPRS instead of the traditional verb charts. It should be interesting to see how the students respond to this method. I think it will go well because students will be able to see how the language is used in context.

Hola amigos,
Today was an interesting day at school. We are having our students do PowerPoint presentations on countries in Central America and the Caribbean. The first class did not do so well, but the second class rocked it. Are their any suggestions for how to set up a PowerPoint presentation assignment like this one so they turn out like the second class?
